Mining on the public testnet

For pool and solo mining: setup, hardware, share rates, payouts, and the numbers that do not add up.

The pool speaks stratum on 3032. That is the only port a miner needs; the statistics API is deliberately not exposed to the internet.

  • PPLNS Payout Scheme — how shares become payouts, and why a share is not a payment

When a payout looks wrong, the useful report has three things: your address, the window you are asking about, and the pool’s own numbers for it. Hashrate figures reported by mining software and by the pool are measured differently and will not match exactly — that is expected, and a persistent gap of many percent is not.

Testnet payouts have no value. They are here so the payout path can be proven before it matters.
